Sports and KidsSports What a great time of the year for sports! March Madness, NFL Teams trying to get better, Spring Training, NBA and NHL getting ready for the stretch run, and more! Today I would like to talk about something I saw this past weekend. My nine year old son was practicing with his baseball team. In the middle of practice, from the field next to us, a father was yelling at other fathers; cussing, and just plain looking bad. Sports are a great way to teach our children so many positive aspects of life. Teamwork, sportsmanship, working hard and trying your best come to mind. These are life lessons that we as parents hope our children develop and get better at during their life. Charles Barkley once said he any other athletes are not role models. They have a job to do, and it is up to the parents to be role models. He is both correct and wrong with this statement. Top athletes, just like top professionals in other fields of the public eye are role models for young minds whether we as parents like it. Our children look up to LeBron James, Lindsey Vonn, Tom Brady, President Obama, Charlie Sheen, Michelle Obama and others. They get paid large amounts of money. Part of getting paid that kind of money is you are in the public eye.
